Paraguay, located in Central South America, is officially known as the Republic of Paraguay and it is a landlocked nation. Paraguay is a member of the World Trade Organization. The most significant part of the economy of Paraguay is the farming sector and around 50% of the workers of Paraguay are involved in agriculture and forestry. Chief crops of the country include sugarcane, cotton, soybeans, tobacco, cassava, corn, wheat, fruits and vegetables. The discovery of oil and gas has attracted foreign investment from the UK. Main industries include sugar, cement, textiles, beverages, wood products, steel, metallurgic and electric power. |
